The last few days have been delightful with warmer temps, daffodils blooming, birds singing. A far cry from a week ago when we were trying to melt snow. I love my daffodils they are so bright and cheery. I am not sure if I will have tulips as they look a bit worse for wear from the late snow storms. Of course with all the blooming and budding comes my dreaded allergies. I am hoping they will be short lived.
Last Sunday I stopped at the Dollar Store and was able to get candles and flame-less candles. I had wanted to try stamping on them for a time but never seemed to find the right size candles. Well I finally found what I was looking for. This is one of the flame-less candles that I did. I found they are a bit more challenging to work with. Here are the others I did and a box I made to go with a few of them. I hope to sell them this weekend at the Fennimore Craft fair. I think they will make great Mother’s Day or Graduation gifts. I hope to get a tutorial done this week so you are able to have fun doing this technique as well!
Yesterday I decided to ignore the fact that Old Man Winter was showing his face again! He is like the one relative you don’t want around and he keeps showing up. I am grateful we only got 3.5 inches vs. the 8 they were predicting. I am sure my daffodils will never bloom this spring, but today the sun is out and it is around 40 degrees out so most of the snow will be gone by Saturday when it is to be in the mid 60’s! Now I pray it will be at least 7 months before we see “him” again.
I played with my blends and the new “stained glass vellum” paper that is coming out in the new catalog. This paper is so easy to work with and the stamp set that goes along with it is just as great. I think these make perfect sympathy cards.
The best part is the blends color lifter picks up any color that comes out of the lines, giving you a very clean image.
Just a reminder that the “Last Chance” items are selling out very quickly! If there is something you want, I suggest you order it now or you may not get it. You can go to my online store at: All Wrapped Up with Ink
Have a great day everyone and Think Spring!
This weekend found most of us in Wisconsin still under the grips of Old Man Winter! We had it all from freezing rain, snow, sleet, high winds and more snow. Don’t get me wrong, I like winter to some extent, but mid-April is pushing it’s welcome! My poor tulips and daffodils don’t know whether to grow or crawl back into the ground. Last year I had beautiful blooms at this rate it will be June before they bloom.
Since I had to hold off on yard work ~ I choose to start stocking up on Graduation cards. I have them for all the local schools and can make special order ones as well.
I will be at several Arts & Crafts Fairs over the next few weeks. I will also have cards available at “Our Front Porch” in Dodgeville. Here are the list of Craft Fairs I will be at:
The spice of life is variety, and that’s especially true in the world of color. Stampin’ Up! makes a point to keep an eye on color trends across different markets and industries. When they see changes happening, they review the color spectrum to ensure that they remain consistently on top of the trends. This brings us to the 2018 Color Revamp!
Previous In Colors that are returning and joining our core colors:
- Mossy Meadow
- Poppy Parade
- Flirty Flamingo
- Coastal Cabana
- Mint Macaron
- Blackberry Bliss
Here is the new color charts! Let me know what you think of these new colors and some returning favorites. I am in love with the new shades of purple, but then purple is my favorite color! But I am drawn to the Poppy Parade and the Lovely Lipstick.
I know saying good-bye to some of the old colors is sad but we have a new pallet of colors to play with! I hope to have some card designs for you to see these beautiful colors in the upcoming days! Have a great weekend and think spring, seems like old man winter wants to hand on.
Easter is fast approaching even if it feels like Old Man Winter is trying his best to hang on! I made these for selling at local craft fairs. I was on a cutting frenzy when I cut these out 3 years ago, making about 60 of these treat boxes. I can say I only have about 20 left! At the time it wasn’t retired but it is now which is sad for me as I like making these. I do Santa’s, Elve’s, Elsa and now bunnies. I think I will try Minions next!
So today will be a stressful day for this mom. My oldest goes for his drivers license. I am not sure where the years have gone too. I still see the chubby little boy who adored his mom and was constantly on the move. If he passes (gulp) he will be on the move again but in a totally different fashion. It is a day that comes with mixed emotions for me. Yes he is growing into a delightful young man and obtaining his drivers license is a right of passage. But in the same token this mom is loosing part of her baby (I don’t care that he towers over me and calls me shorty) he will always be my baby.
I think I dealt with him shaving better than this driving thing. I remember back (cough 30+) years ago when I got my license and the freedom it gave me (at least I thought is was freedom). My mom didn’t need a GPS she knew where I had been. There were no cell phones or that she just knew and if you didn’t tell her the truth, god help you the salt shaker would slam down. My brother had it much worse than me being 10 years older than me and dad being a patrol officer. There was no escaping what was reported! I am sure I am having the same anxiety as my mother did and countless other moms have had or will have. But for the life of me wasn’t I just changing diapers….
Wow 50 degrees in February in Wisconsin! That means that winter is slowly loosing it’s grip on us (or one could hope). About this time of year I get fed up with winter. It can be so beautiful but there is an ugly side to it too. Weather like this makes my chickens so much happier, the birds are singing and the cattle are getting spunky. The increase in daylight ours and the warmer weather are definite plus!
I have been busy sewing quilts and coffee coozies, but have found time to sneak to my craft space to create some cards for this weekends card class. The card at the top is one we will make on Saturday. It uses the Epic Celebrations set. We are celebrating the last month of Sale-a-Bration as well. They have added more free items that you can get with a qualifying purchase of $50. Did you know if you join Stampin’ Up! during Sale-a-Bration not only is it the best deal for getting supplies but you receive Free Shipping and 2 stamp sets of your choice! That is all at the price of $99 you get $125 worth of product (your choice), free shipping and 2 additional stamp sets worth up to $101 dollars. So really you are getting $226 value for just $99.
